Since this particular section of the Forum is lacking in teh content I figured I'd contribute and throw down a review of an Anime I enjoy.

Anywho I'm unsure of teh level of nerdom this forum aspires to so I'll just have to mention that Soul Eater has only recently been licensed for American release and I'm not exactly sure how it will premiere in America. Funimation is handling the dub so that can mean good and bad things at the same time Neutral

Soul Eater is shounen through and through. It's often argued that it doesn't have a original bone in it's body among some groups. I can't refute these claims either. I'll gladly state that Soul Eater plays something like an orgy of Bleach/Harry Potter and Naruto being directed by Tim Burton? Neutral but it's the strength in execution that totally sells me on the entire series.

The animation is handled by the same superb team that worked on Full Metal Alchemist (and Cowboy Beebop as Funimation will point out). The story flows well and it has a great sound track Very Happy

I'm beginning to notice a strange pattern in how SquareEnix does it's anime vs say Shounen Jump. See for those who don't know, Full Metal Alchemist was not a manga accurate adaptation. In order to make it a good show with a high level of consistency and mostly plot crucial episodes, SquareEnix chose to give the anime an original story rather then do the Studio Pierrot (studio that does Naruto/Bleach) thing and make filler arcs/multi episode stretched fights/long recaps at the start of every episode. They've also put shows on hiatus if need be (Sekkri Plan is currently on haitus if I'm not mistaken).

While i do love getting Naruto and Bleach every week I'm going to say a nice constantly flowing series is definitely something I'm more likely to purchase as a collectors edition so ultimately I think SquareEnix has the right idea here (especially when their production values are above Studio Pierrots, at least on average)

But moving back to the content of the anime itself, it is a very fun series for what it is. Very stylized and Hallow33ny, good balanced cast of main characters and villians and definitly worth watching if you enjoy a nice fight anime with some humor thrown in.

LOOKS COOL, although I am rather worried considering I'm not big on fight anime's. I always start out loving it, then end up turning away before it's over. Like Bleach, i thought it was great at first but got a little tiresome to me. However Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist are 2 animes that roxer mah boxers so i'll definately check it out.

Bleach was good until it went into the hollow world and there it kinda just stopped moving. Even the bount arc was more thrilling. James has pretty much ruined me on naruto since he keeps pretty much telling me what is going on in a question format so its not worth me downloading it to see. As for this anime i might think about it but to be honest i dont seem to be drawn to a short anime.

Some of the short animes are my favorites. Sure, you wish they were longer, but the storyline always seems to be thrilling. Like paranoia agent, which had lots of twists and turns and a constantly moving storyline, that managed to keep, me anyway, into the story until the very end.

exactly, and they tend to fit better when you buy them as collectors disks. I always feel much better buying a nice well put together scene were not a moment or episode is wasted. I can't stand the idea of buying a bloated fillerized mess that while possessing a good story, contains so much pointless drivel that I might watch but I'll never buy.

yeah having a large series does not transfer well at all for dvd sells. thus things like dragon ball kai is born. though i have noticed that even neon genisis is being remade into movies(None of which i have seen) i dont get why that series is get a revamp because its like 29 eps and a movie.

it would be cool if someone did an evangelion reveiw.
because that series made my brain leak from my ears tasty tasty

Only reason why you guys don't prefer the longer animes not only because they seem to get drawn out but the fact that its really expensive to by all those dvd's. I mean on FMA alone i think i spent over a hundred dollars for 13 disks. Shorter animes are good but always tend to not satisfy me for some reason.

I think alot of it has to do with how much the writer really has to say. I'm not opposed to long anime's so much as I'm opposed to the ussual stuff like filler or needlessly drawn out events. I mean can you say your honestly happy with things like the bount arc or the amagia filler?

I suppose it really depends what your looking for, I like to own nice concise great from beginning to the end series. But if I'm just going to watch something on TV, maybe it's more comforting to have a good ol dependable series to return to w33k after w33k (even if it's sometimes marginal in quality).

I have to say i actually preferred the bount arc compared to the hollow one to be honest. And maybe thats it i like things i can return to over time and not go well thats over now what to watch next. I like things in a comfortable reliable pattern, its one of my failings.
